Betty Cuthbert, AM, MBE, the “golden girl” of the 1956 Olympics, won both sprints and anchored the relay. She achieved a courageous win in the inaugural 400m for women at the 1964 Olympics.

Marjorie Jackson, AO, MBE (later Nelson) “The Lithgow Flash”, dominated world sprinting in the early 1950’s and won the 100m by 3m and the 200m by 5m at the 1952 Olympics. She also won 7 Commonwealth gold medals in 1950 and 1954.
